In Sterquiliniis Inventur
200 cm x 400 cm
By Charlotte and Peter
This painting is the crown jewel of our Lightyears Ahead exhibition. It is the apotheosis of an intense collaboration.
Preparation, creation, and finish spanned over four months of 2020. Eight different layers. Twenty-five liters of paint. Eight liters of gloss coating. Two liters of varnish. Hundreds of hours of painting. Countless cappuccinos.
The name of the canvas, In Sterquiliniis Inventur, translates to ‘our brightest light is found in the darkest of places’. It is a medieval, alchemic dictum that perfectly captures the essence of the work.
We trusted each other unconditionally, setting no boundaries whatsoever. Months of complementing, redirecting, and adjusting each other’s brush strokes. Peter represents dark, burning, and heavy energy. Charlotte is a beacon of light, flowing colors, and hopeful energy.
By balancing those energies, our work was born.
The result is a landscape that spans lightyears, guiding us into the future. It is easy to get lost in this. Stars, singularities, nebulae. You will discover an interesting area each time you walk past this painting. That is our gift to you. A new galactic journey with every glance.
Acrylics, gold leaf, aerosol, and pigments on aluminium-stretched cotton canvas. Triple varnish and luxury gloss coat finish.

We believe that, the real strength of a human person can only be found in the darkest times of their life. We can only fully shine our light if we learn what darkness means to us. These 2 opposites are yin and yang, black and white, male and female energy, the good and the bad. Only via working with our own darkness and light, accepting that there is both, we can feel a balance.
And finding your own balance feels so nice, let’s all just admit that!
You can look at this from a personal perspective. But we are asking you to take a step back and look at the bigger picture as well.
We need you to open your eyes and realise that there are dark forces and light forces around us in the cosmos. They will always be there.
The only thing you can do is wake up.
Choose the light above the darkness every time you can!
If you’re feeling this, come and visit us.
Let’s talk about universal topics and enlighten each other.
Prepare to be transported to a realm where boundless creativity and cosmic mystery converge. Immerse yourself in the ethereal glow of otherworldly landscapes, the dance of interstellar beings, and the whispers of civilizations waiting to be discovered. We hope that "Lightyears Ahead: A Journey Into Other Realms" will leave you spellbound, evoking a sense of connection to something larger than ourselves. Let us venture together into the unknown and unravel the secrets of the cosmos that lie lightyears ahead.
Join us on this extraordinary odyssey of art and exploration that will redefine how you perceive our place in the universe. Vanitas Part I (sold) and ii
70 x 100 cm. By Peter and Charlotte
No exhibition is complete without a still life. Vanitas, the Latin term for vanity, hints at the need for human humility in the grand scheme of nature. Thus, Vanitas became a common title for still lifes in the classical tradition. Part II of this diptych shows the right side of an exotic planet that is slowly starting to decompose. A dying planet, a rupture exposing its core, emitting beams of energy in a final struggle.
Acrylics, gold leaf, aerosol, and pigments on wood-stretched cotton canvas. Triple varnish and luxury gloss coat finish.
Vanitas I and II are available separately and as a pair:
